Thule 724 Flat Top 4-Ski Rooftop Carrier Review

I found this product to be a good solution for what I needed it to do--Carry my families ski's up to the slopes. There's not a lot of noise from wind aerodynamic issues, even at high speeds. It holds the skis firmly in place, and has a very easy to use open button & close snap. Although it may not be made of metal, it's sturdy enough that nothing moves in it.

This was by far a better option that several other systems I found, which offered too many parts & not a whole lot of value for the price they wanted. The factory installed ski rack which would have cost $300 was roughly the same size and was not as good a deal as this rack for my 2000 Dodge Durango.

In response to the previous two reviews, I must note a few corrections.

Firstly, the rack DOES hold two snowboards, I tested it with two of my friends snowboards on my last trip. In order for them to fit, one must face down and the other face up, one on top of the other. The individual who posted that it does not obviously didn't think to try stacking them.

Second, In response to the fact that the bar could simply be twisted--you're joking right? It would attract attention if an individual attempted to twist off the bar. On top of that, in order for them to twist off the bar, they would have to break the board/skis in the rack in the process, and that would defeat the purpose, would it not?

The only problem I had with this was the FM1 adapter which was required to install this carrier on my factory bars. The instructions for assembly didn't provide any information for any vehicles besides imports. (Domestic cars are out of luck since this is a Sweden based company!)

Yakima LoadStop for Yakima Cross Bars Review

Yakima LoadStops are an accessory for use with the Yakima round bars. They fit around the bars and are then held tight with the same plastic butterfly nuts used with other Yakima accessories. They can be adjusted to fit different size items by repositioning them on the bars. They seem best suited to items with straight sides such as boxes. Because they are adjustable, they could be used for items with a taper such as ladders or canoes. They have a rubber coating so items do not slip. The come in a mesh bag with a drawstring closure so you can keep them with you in the car.

I recently used my LoadStops to carry a large bookcase on the roof of my car. The bookcase (secured with straps) and the LoadStops did not slip or shift during transit and were still secure when I arrived. I am glad I had them and I know they will come in handy the next time I pick up something at that Swedish furniture store. I recommend them highly.

Yakima Super Joe 3 Bike Mount Review

QUICK and easy to remove by releasing the two top straps. Once the straps are adjusted to your car it is easy and QUICK to place back on your car. Need to only adjust the two top straps. Would have liked it to fold up, but then again I would have adjust the arms each time. Find it a little awkward(positioning self)to pull straps to tighten.

A little hard to pull the red buttons out to adjust arms, but once it is done you never have to do it again unless you change vehicles.

Yakima Viper Bike Rack Review

I used to have two Steelhead bike carriers but one was damaged during an unfortunate incident involving roof-mounted bikes and a low parking structure (ouch).I bought the Viper as it seemed like an upgrade, and I must say it's a bit more solidly build than the Steelhead, but there's a few things I don't like.

I don't keep the racks on my truck all the time, only when I'm going biking.Taking off and mounting the Steelhead was basically a clip-on task, and didn't change the skewer length so it was always ready to fit your forks.Putting the Viper on involved completely removing the skewer bolt and re-threading on the lock mechanism from the end, having to thread it on an overly long length of threads.And this is done by having to hold up the lock lever and turn this rough knurled knob that always chafes my fingertips, and it's tough to do because only a small edge of the knob is exposed when you lift up the lever.Then when it's mounted, you have to put your bike up and adjust the threading again to get it to the right width and tension for your bike forks.Taking off involves the reverse unthreading.
I know the different design adds security, but for me it's an annoying extra several minutes and raw fingertips each time.

Thule 400xtr Rapid Aero Rack Complete for Gutterless Car Roof Rack Review

I have to admit that this rack system is the best that is out there. The Aero rack looks stronger than Thule's cheaper square cross bars orYakima's round cross bars.The rubber strip along the top is perfect for keeping things from sliding around. I got this rack for use with my old aluminium heavy duty canoe that must weighabout 75 lbs, the Aero racks are rated for up to 165 lbs load which is the same rating as for the square load bars. Being aluminium, there is no risk of rust and the Aero cross section of the racks does seem to cut wind noise. On my Prius I didn't bother with Thule's Fairing wind deflector, and I don't miss it. I also didn't get the lock set, which since the foot clamps are covered by the car doors when closed, the rack would not be easy to remove. So the locks give little added security. For canoes, don't bother with Thule's canoe carrier, it only works with the square bar racks. I made that mistake, but I did find that the rubber strip on the top of Aero rack eliminates the need for the brackets to hold the canoe in place anyway. Loading my heavy canoe was easy, I put it over my head and placed one side on the top of the racks and then slide the canoe onto the rack, then center it.I did use the straps from the canoe kit which do a great job of securing the canoe to the racks. The canoe carrier kit only came with two road tie downs, hauling a canoe really requires four, so I had to buy two more. You can get better straps and quick release rope tie downs at a local store for about half the money Thule will charge you, so skip the canoe carrier set unless you buy a Thule square rack. Which makes this rack set nearly all inclusive, just buy two straps and four quick release tie downs locally, and you are all set.

One note, I did have a thrumming noise when I first used this rack, but it turned out that I had twisted the straps when I put them over the top of the canoe, once I untwisted them so they laid flat, the noise was gone.

The seller will call you to find out what type of car the rack will be used on, so they can supply the correct fit kit and if the Aero feet sold with this rack will work with your car.

Yakima Steelhead Fork Mount Review

I had Steelheads many years ago and when I needed a rack for my new car I decided to get another set. I leave the rack on my car for extended periods and need the extra security that this mount offers. Unfortunately, I discovered that Yakima does not sell replacement parts for the clamping head. Over time, exposure to the sun has caused the red plastic levers to crumble to pieces, and Yakima Customer Service told me that I would have to buy an entire replacement head which is about half the cost of a new mount. How eco-friendly is that? Luckily, it can be fixed with a stainless worm screw hose clamp threaded through the slot and around the head to keep the halves together. It doesn't look as nice but it's probably stronger than the original design. It would get 5 stars if Yakima provided service parts for the heads.

Yakima FarOut Rooftop Cargo Bag Review

I just purchased this Yakima FarOut Cargo Bag. I will be using it for a 5,500 mile round trip coming up. I'll give my first impressions here, and later, by May 20th, I'll update how it has performed for the first 2,750 miles. I have a 2009 Toyota Camry with Yakima Rr Tracks, Yakima Landing Pad Base for Yakima Control Towers (1), and Yakima Control Tower - Set of 4s already installed. I also have a Yakima SkyBox 18 Rooftop Cargo Box on top but needed a little more space to put stuff in, (I have to carry around enough stuff for myself, my wife, and my newborn for the next 6 months). I am putting the Bag on the side of the SkyBox. My plan is to put everythingI will be using at the hotels inside of the Bag so that I can unstrap it from the racks and carry the whole Bag in every-time we stop, instead of having to carry a bunch of individual items in from the car for every temporary hotel stop. We'll see how the plan plays out. But as for now. Let me give you my first impressions and stay tuned for future updates on performance:

First Impressions:

The Bag quality seem great. It says it keeps rain and bugs out an I believe it. The material is heavy and of high quality. It has 2 different ways to hook it up to your bars, either sideways or longways, nice feature. I'm doing long ways so it fits next to my SkyBox. Inside is mostly just open space, there is a small compartment on one of the sides which is nice for small items you want to keep at easy reach. There looks to be a a lot of space inside. There is a hefty double zipper too close the top plus fold down flaps that folds down over the zipper. Velcro holds down this flap, and to top it all off, there are 4 adjustable straps that both help hold the flap down and will squish down the top if you don't get it all full.

So far, I am very impressed, I only wish it had some type of locking mechanism (it may, I need to look through the instructions). But I will see what I can do to get it locked onto my bars, plus a zipper lock.

Thule Slipstream Kayak Carrier Review

I looked for a carrier for a rowing shell that would fit my SUV (a bit tall) and would allow me to load the shell singlehanded.Most of the conventional rack systems for rowing shells hold the hull well above the rack crossbars and that makes for difficult single handed loading.

The Slipstream allows for a lower loading height and the combination of the sliding (to the rear) frame and the rear roller make it easy to get the boat started with little chance of hitting the roof with the hull.

My only complaint is that there is no simple locking mechanism for the rack system.Thule suggests using a cable and lock, but I would much prefer locking fasteners such as are available with Yakima and other Thule racks.

Yakima KingPin Bike Rack Review

We needed a way to haul three adult-sized bicycles from our home base to various cycling paths. So I visited a number of local stores to see what my options were. I settled on the Yakima BigHorn 4 as the best option for my budget, then discovered through some online searching that I could purchase the next model up, the Yakima KingPin 4 bike rack for a bit less than the BigHorn 4 would run me in a traditional retailer.

The KingPin 4 folds features a fold-down mast, a must convenience to allow access to a vehicle's rear hatch or door. Although I would not consider a bike rack without this feature, be forewarned: once you lower the rack while it's loaded with three bikes (more about the fourth bike claim follows), you will be hard pressed to single-handedly reposition it and slide in the lock or bolt. There is too much weight on that pivot point.

I soon learned, therefore, that it was easier to have the mast folded up, not down, when loading the bikes.

The dual bike arms are a must, allowing for more stability and easier loading and unloading. The bike arms fold down as well, though this option, while useful, is not essential in many cases. (These folding bike arms are the main difference between the KingPin and BigHorn racks.)

A series of bike cradles and rubber "chainstraps" stabilize and anchor the bikes. You can slide theses cradles along the tubular arms to allow sufficient room to avoid any rubbing or scraping if you are carrying three bikes. (I looked as some less expensive racks that required hand-tightening one or more big bolts to tighten clamps that held the bikes. That system seemed like a royal pain and huge annoyance.)

Despite the name and billing, I'm less confident in recommending the KingPin4 for transporting four bikes. I think it's possible, but would require great care to avoid scraping paint or entangling pedals and spokes. Plus, I prefer using four "chainstraps" per bike for a bit of insurance, so if you want to carry four bikes, I would recommend springing for another set of these.

The unloaded contraption weights about 32 pounds, so it's not too heavy as you carry it from the basement or garage to install it. But be careful of the arms or you might shatter the glass in a door or an outside light. Also, you need to do a bit of assembly out of the box, so allow a good 30 minutes to set up and test the rig before using it the first time. The drawings in the instructions did not seem to match what I was actually looking at when I had everything before me on the floor, so I spent an extra few minutes considering the options. This assembly is not difficult---it's just that adage "never do anything for the first time" may stump one for a bit.

I am using this rack with a two-inch hitch, and I purchased a locking pin to replace the bolt that is shipped for attaching the rack to the hitch. I also run one of the cable bike locks through the bike frames and around the spanner between the arms to add a measure of security.

During our first foray, a 100-mile trip each way, the bikes and rack swayed just a bit from time to time, but overall, the sway was not a problem. Having a hundred extra pounds jutting up behind the rear window will change any vehicle's handling and hamper visibility through the rearview mirror, so be prepared to change your driving style as needed.

To conclude, the KingPin 4 has performed well. We could load and unload three bikes in about five minutes, and neither the Durango or bikes were scratched during transport. But, again, I would suggest that this rack is great for three bikes, but may be a challenge for carrying four.

Yakima Heavy Duty Straps Review

The Yakima heavy duty straps are the best tie down straps on the market. Simple to use and the buckle is protected with a rubber jacket. The rubber jacket protects your vehicles paint from chipping when you throw the buckle accross the top of the vehicle. Fasten and secure the strap with only one pull to lock the strap. To open just press the bar and the strap will release. I use these straps to hold down two extension ladders to the top of my truck rack. I love these straps. Been using these for years with no problems.

I bought this rack, and I could have sworn that it said universal rack, but it did not fit on my factory installed rack.I later came to find that it is the 91725 rack that is universal, NOT the 725.I had to buy the adapters, and the rack seems to be working well, but it cost me an extra $30 for the additional parts.Make sure you check the part number and order the 91725 if you want the universal mount.If this rack does fit your car, it is very easy to install.

Thule Ford F-150 Specialty Rack w/Locks Review

I use this with a 2003 Ford Supercab pickup mainly to haul a canoe.I also purchased the optional Canoe mount from Thule.

This mount is very stable, easy to install and I have not had any problems. There is a bit of wind noise but it is to be expected.

Thule 422 Xsporter Truck Cargo Roof Rack (Full Size) Review

I purchased the Xsporter Rack for my 2005 Tacoma Double Cab.
After mounting the rack and driving along the highway I noticed a very loud whistling noise. It turns out that the trough on the underside of the load bars creates a near perfect "Flute" effect that becomes very loud as you approach 40mph. By simply using good old "Duct Tape" and sealing off the trough I have completely nullified the noise and am riding in perfect silence. A great product both aesthetically and functionally.

Yakima SKS Security Cable (9-Foot) Review

I already have a Yakima roof rack and since I'm using SKS it's a good way to simplify the items I need to keep track of.I may get Yakima QuickBack later, and this is designed for that system, so I figured I'd kill two birds with a stone and use it as a conventional bike lock.Yes it's a little bulky for that purpose, but the less things I have to keep track of (another bike lock) the better.

If you're already using SKS, just contact Yakima and give them the number on your silver key, for another core.The new lock core was an additional ~17 including shipping.In total it's an expensive bike lock, but I plan to use it beyond that purpose.

Build quality is very good, and about twice the thickness of a computer Kensington lock cable.The loop on the end, 9 ft of cord, and a moveable lock joint (the silver peice in the picture near the loop) that can run the length of the cord, allows for a lot of flexibility in securing things down.

Everything is rubberized except for where the SKS core is flush, and the lock joint, so scratching metal or paint shouldn't be a major concern.

This rack is working fine for my family.In spite of a few reviews from others about damage to car, I experienced no problems with damage.Perhaps user error is the cause of some of the problems indicated in prior reviews.I did discover one little problem.I have an infant seat on the back and my middle son still uses training wheels.Due to the bulkiness of both, I was unable to use all three harnesses no matter how I arranged the bikes.I had to put the bike with training wheels in the back of the van instead.The consumer's review is correct about the bike lock not being any advantage really.If someone wanted to steal your bikes they could just cut the straps of the rack.However you could use it to strap the bikes together which would at least make it more difficult to steal the bikes and get somewhere with them.

Thule 571 Roof Mount Cargo Box Storage Lift Review

This works like it's supposed to.Holds my 1800 without issue.A few notes though:

1) Get your own mounting screws, the stuff that comes with it is junk
2) I ended up putting up 1x4 supports and mounting everything to those.I didn't put the middle support in, and it doesn't seem to matter.
3) My ceiling is is just over 10' tall, and this only comes down to about eye-level for me (I'm 6' tall).It's enough for me, but you might consider getting a longer rope.

Yakima World Straps Review

Thule 4002XT Aero Roof Rack Foot Half Pack (Set of 2) Review

Works on my 2004 Toyota Prius, but man, this thing was hard to install the first time. Contrary to the instructions that come with the kit, you really have to get the whole thing assembled (feet, load bars and fit kit) BEFORE placing the rack on the car. If you try to do it while the unit is positioned on the roof of the car, the bolts are not long enough to engage the threaded nut way up inside each foot. Also, stick to the measurements they specify in the instructions. That part they did get right.

Now that I did the intital set up though, the rack is super sturdy, and relatively easy to take on and off. To fit the 2004 Toyota Prius you will need the Thule Fit Kit #2142, a set of the Thule 400xt Aero Feet, and a set of load bars of your desired length (I got the LB58, 58" ones).

Overall a good product, but Thule could do a way better job on their instruction manual.

Special thanks to the Cracks and Racks store in Aspen, Colorado who I had to randomly call for help because the Thule tech support was closed on the weekend. You guys were so helpful and nice even though i hadn't bought the unit from you. cracksandracks.com

Nothing fancy here, the Cargo Box Hanger works as advertised.It's a little expensive so I first went to Home Depot to see if I could build something cheaper.Well, I could have struggled with odds and ends to make something but I would not have looked as nice or been as sturdy.This thing is sturdy.

One problem, the supplied screws both broke off in the wall despite a pre-drilling and using a slow drill speed.Yakima needs to provide sturdier screws.The holes for the screws do not allow for a much larger diameter screw either.

Great colors, easy to install, easy to mount bike, low profile, quiet, and fits my 2006 Subaru Outback factory crossbars.Be sure crossbar is moved as far foward as possible, small gap towards front, to enable tailgate to open fully.Only drawback is tailgate will not fully open, when bike is mounted, hits rear tire.With my MTB it is so close it is not a big deal, at least to me.Be sure and get two lock cores, one to lock tray to car and another to lock bike to skewer.Yakima and Thule cores will not fit, at least not the ones I have.I have owned trunk mounted, hitch mounted and roof mounted by several companies and this is the cheapest and best I have ever had.

Thule 400 XT- Aero Foot Pack Review

I just installed the Thule 400XT rack -- the original estimate of half an hour though was greatly off the mark.It took me about 2 and a half hours to install the first time.However, one I learned from my mistakes, it was a lot easier to install.
The general difficulty I had was very fine tolerance the parts have in attaching them to my '01 Prius.For example, I had to load bars initially upside down (grip side down) which made a big difference in trying to do the initial lock with the tensioning cam (still required a lot of force though).Also, there was little extra leeway on the screws to attach the fit kit to the feet.Lastly, setting the final tabs in place took a while until I realized I could just get a plastic card and push them in while shutting the assembly.After all these hickups, I know how to set it up a lot faster.Othewise, solid construction and it doesn't look like it will move anytime soon.

Yakima Bow/Stern Tie Down Review

I purchased these tie-down straps with a full rack and canoe kit. The tiedows were very pricey, but they claimed they cam with a protective tube over the ropes to prevent paint scratches.

Let me save you some trouble- Don't bother with these. Get some normal tie-down straps or even some good rope, and wrap them in a towel or cloth. The plastic rope covers scratched the paint on my car very badly, and didn't really offer any other benefit.

The one good feature about these straps is the ratcheting system- When you pull the rope tighter, a ratchet locks it into place until the ratchet lever is pulled. This isn't to say it replaces a good cargo strap, since the rope does tend to come loose, but with some good knot tying, you can get it pretty solid.

Overall, the product quality is as expected, but in the end it was a waste.

Yakima Roof Tracks Review

This results in a much nicer rack set-up than raingutter or door mount. It's a more permanent solution, yet the tracks aren't that noticeable once the rack is removed (which is quick and simple).These tracks are more flexible and have better attachment hardware that cheaper alternatives (plusnuts vs. screws).To be fair, Thule also seems good.I was nervous about drilling holes in the roof, but it wasn't that bad.You do need to follow instructions carefully, and realize that recommended hole locations aren't available for all vehicles (I found out that right over the door column isn't the best choice).A depth limiter (other than tape on the bit) is important, and a drill guide (to keep the bit from sliding and perpendicular) would be helpful.Even with an indentation from a punch, the bit still can slide.The end result - a 3000 mile trip with a fully loaded hardshell cartop carrier, no leaks, and completely solid. I'm very pleased with these tracks, and with Yakima customer service.

Thule Step Up Wheel Step Review

This step is a great idea for those who put their skis/snowboards on the roof of the SUV. We used to stand on the tire itself or on the 2nd row seats but decided there had to be a better way.This step is easy to adjust and feels very stable.Now we don't have to do the gymnastics any more.

Now the bad news.We used it at the house to load up, at the slopes to unload and to reload and then at home again to unload.A weld on one of the buckles broke making the step unusable.The unit is riveted together so there is no way to replace just the broken part.Thule has a good warranty and Amazon has provided great support. Amazon is sending out a replacement.Hopefully the new one won't develop the same problem.

I bought this relying on the photos on FreeHand (the manufacturer's) website photos which show both a WOMAN;s and men's bikes on the stand.

BUT A WOMEN'S BIKE WILL NOT NOT NOT stay on the stand unless YOU BUY A $30 THAT'S THIRTY dollar bar to convert the women's into a man's bike and then it will stay attached.

I have used these successfully for transport of my kayak.The boat loads easily and the rack cradles it well.The racks seem stable on the road.It has taken a bit for me to figure out how best to strap the boat.I've moved away from lines to the bumper and have gone to more robust side to side strapping.Early transport had the kayak moving considerably on the racks.The mounting clamps are not secure enough - nor can they be - to keep the boat from moving on the car's cross braces.Overall, these are still the best I've seen.

Thule Doubletrack 2 Bike Hitch Carrier Review

My vehicle is a 1999 Nissan Maxima sedan, equipped with a Kurt 1-1/4" hitch receiver. Due to the toung weight limit of the hitch receiver, the choice of bike racks is also limited. Thanks God, the THULE 990 is a great solution for me.

Originally, I doubt the capability of an 1-1/4" hitch to bear heavy loads (rack + bikes). After I installed THULE 990 and loaded two bikes, I was so glad that I chose a correct rack. The play was very very small, no matter my car was stopped, on local roads or on the freeway. The rack provides three points to contact to each bike. It is an excellent way to carry bikes. No need to worry about that the bikes would scratch my car or scratch each other.

For the rack itself, the height is pretty easy for me to load bikes. I do not have to lift my bikes too much. Also the rack provides sufficient clearance to access rear trunk and let trunk lid open without any interferences.

For entering/exiting my drive way, THULE 990 provides sufficient vertical clearance so that I could drive in/out drive way without further awareness.

For local road driving, all I need to be aware are the speed bumps. Just drive nice and slowly. Otherwise, the bikes/rack are rock-solid.

For freeway driving, I drove my vehicle at 70mph and the bikes/rack were pretty stable. I could not feel any play or vibration. But the aerodynamic drag is a little bit noticeable. By the way the test drive on freeway was about 20 miles one-way, 40 miles total.

The integrated lock heads are also a great advantage. No need to use additional ugly and bulky locking cables. The two locks on the locking handles are easy to use and efficient. The STL2 hitch lock is also easy to use and very tight fitted.

With THULE 990, I could virtually extend my bicycle rides to anywhere my vehicle could reach. The THULE 990 is really a great bike rack.

CAR RACK ALLEN 540RR HITCH 2IN 4 BIKE Review

I have used this rack now for about 10 months and feel as if I have found a terrific value.I had borrowed a friends Thule 4 bike rack before and couldn't justify spending double what I spent on this rack.It is a solid rack.

I typically carry 2 26", 1 24" and one 29" MTB's on the rack with no problem although space is tight.I have never had an issue with anything comming unsecured in the 25+ trips I have made with the rack. Several of the miles that I have travled have been on roads in not so great of shape and even had to make my own a time or two without any problem.

I would buy Allen again although I hope I dont have to anytime soon.

If you get a hitch installed on your car, you can't do better than the Yakima Hitch Rack.Easy to install, but you'll need the proper size ratchet wrench, to attach the rack to the hitch securely.But other than that, it's simple installation, and once it's on the car, it folds up so it hardly takes any room.Since the rack screws into the hitch, it's not as easy to remove from the car as some other racks.But that's why this rack is very secure.It's a great bike rack because it holds two bikes securely and won't scratch the back of your car.You can even open the car hood without removing the bikes.If you want a bike rack for your car, this is the best.Takes a few seconds to load and remove a bike rack.I recommend the Yakima Hitch Lock as well even though it does come with a cable hitch lock, but that's bulky when you're not holding your bikes.Make sure you're buying the 2009 model (check model number).Some places sell an older version which is not as good.

This is a pretty straightforward purchase: two Thule-brand bars of dimension 1.25" x 0.75" -- exactly what I needed to replace my old (ancient!) To say that Thule's beginnings in the U.S. were humble would be an understatement. Founding member Ake Skeppner sold products at windsurf competitions on the New England shoreline, exhibited the product line at a number of different trade shows, and even canvassed local retailers in the greater New York area, all from his "office"--a now-famous station wagon. Initial success was found in the small but growing sport of windsurfing where a strong, reliable roof rack was an indispensable piece of equipment. This was quickly followed by success in the ski business where Thule's Swedish heritage certainly helped the product gain rapid acceptance.
By the mid-1980s, the company sold products directly to ski and windsurfing shops but sold through distributors to address the large and growing bike business. A risky decision was made to terminate these distributor relationships and sell direct to retailers through a network of independent sales representatives. Much of the company's market success today can be traced to that decision. Shortly after, Ake hired an engineer and set up a small assembly plant in Elmsford, New York in order to design and manufacture bike carriers that would offer the features demanded by the U.S. consumer and compete effectively with other racks on the market.
The company has since grown rapidly through product innovation, a commitment to quality, and the continuance of a strong entrepreneurial spirit as well as continuing to evolve their products to meet the needs of users.

Product Description:
Designed to fold flat against the back of a vehicle when not in use, this heavy-duty platform-style rack mounts on a 1.25-inch hitch and holds three bicycles. The rack uses padded universal top clamps and adjustable wheel holders. Bikes need simply to be dropped into the wheel holders and clamps slid down onto the frames. Velcro wheel straps add security. Thule Aero Short Roof Adapter Review

It can occasionally be a pain to set up, but there really aren't many other options.Once tightened & locked, I never had issues with it loosening nor noticed any swaying of the rear load-bar. Set-up aside, I have no complaints.

2 Bike Carrier - Rear 2" Hitch Bicycle Rack Review

The bike rack will carry a couple of bikes but the quality is pretty poor.Very cheaply made, very bad 'paint' that flakes off when you tighten any of the bolts.Rusts instantly (Really!!!) Some of the bolt holes do not hold the bolts properly for tightening, so you will probably need a vice-grips for assembly.

You will need to add padding to the vertical posts that you fasten the bikes to unless you don't mind scratching up your bikes.

Figure on a can of gloss black spray enamel to touch up anywhere a tool touches and padding for the uprights and you will have a functional bike rack.Takes about 30 minutes to assemble if you work reasonably fast.

Saris Thelma 3 Bike Universal Hitch Review

The Thelma arrived the day AFTER i ordered it. Now i see why [...] has a 100% satisfaction rating.

The rack works very well on my small car - Honda Fit, have used it numerous times already. It is easy and fast to load/unload and put on and take off the car.

The nuts and spacers for the third bike wheels were missing. Called Saris and they sent three complete sets of bolts/nuts and spacers which arrived in only three days.
