Hollywood Racks F1B The Original 3-Bike Trunk Mount Rack Review

I got this because my 13-years-old son bikes a lot and sometimes I have to pickhim and his bike up from wherever or whenever he gets stuck.(bad weather, after dark from his friend's house,etc)I used to simply loaded his bike in cargo areaof my minivan.But after switching toCorolla, I needed a different way to transport the bike.So I did some research and came across with this rack.After reading positive reviews I've decided to give it a try and I'm glad I did.
Very first time I used it I had to ask my mechanically competent daughter to help me out since I'm a totalklutz.But after that I just attach/detach it to and from my car without any problem.( Bottom latches are bit trickier for me but it's not thata big deal-- remember, I'm a total klutz--probably other people won't find it difficult)One person can load a bike on the wrack(I can do it if I have to.) but since the bike needs to be liftedup off the ground( and since I'm short,5'1"), I ask my son to lift it up and I maneuver it into place.
The straps that latches are attached are very long and they fliped and flapped all over the place when I drove.So I folded and tied the extra into a knot and it worked.Adjusting length of straps when attaching the wrack to my car is easy once you get used to it.I've used it 10+ times so far and has not left marks on my car. It works for my husband's Saturn, too. You might want to keep a flashlight in your car in case you have to set this up in dark.I once threw this in my car instead of attaching to it before I left to pick up my son after dark. although tail light would have been suffice to help me see what I was doing but having flashlight really made the job easier.
My husband who teaches technology education at local middle school likesthis product, too. He says it's very well designed. He likes simple but effective stuff rather than fancy and complicated gadgets.

Bell Double Back Two-Bike Trunk Rack Review

I bought this at Wal-Mart for the same price as Amazon.Its horribly easy to install and it worked great.I went on a 500 mile round trip without any problems.I would suggest pushing up each of the mounting bars so that you can get the fit very tight.Otherwise you might have a problem with the bike bouncing around.Considering how much the other bike mounts are, this is the best for the money.

Hollywood Racks E3 Express 3-Bike Trunk Mount Rack Review

I too did my homework as for reviews comparing this bicycle rack with others offered on Amazon. I chose this one partially because of the reviews plus it was available directly through Amazon and the price was reasonable. I found that this rack was extremely well made and easy to attach to my 1996 Honda Accord. I could also tell that it would be able to fit many cars because of the way it was designed. I also liked this one because of the fact it has two additional hold down straps which attach to the sides of the rear trunk. There is a weak link in this product though. It is the quality of the tightening fasteners on the hold down straps. I loaded up three 26" bikes on the rack, which was a bit of a challenge, but did work well once you get the hang of it. I re-tightened all the straps as instructed in the directions before driving off and felt confident I did a good job. My vacation trip was only 150 miles away and I just happened to stop after about 50 miles to check how the bikes were doing. I found that the straps had loosened up and the rack was not secure. I tightened the straps up again and rechecked in another 50 miles to find the same result. If I hadn't stopped from time to time to check, I wonder what the result would have been. So, because the rack is built so well and is easy enough to use, I gave it three stars rather than less because I feel this rack would work great for short trips. However for longer trips, I definitely would not recommend this rack. It's really a shame they didn't come up with a more efficient strap fastener. I am returning this rack today and will try another brand with a close eye on the type of strap fastener used. Advice to you....no matter what brand you purchase, for long trips be sure to double check how secure your rack is from time to time....Hope this helps.
